Olu of Warri bows to pressures, rescinds decision to renounce title

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwase II, has rescinded his decision to renounce his royal title, Ogiame, as well as abolish some ancient Itshekiri cultural practices, after four days of protest.

The Itsekiri Monarch bowed to the wishes his people who gave him a mandate to either rescind his decision or abdicate.

His decision was made public this afternoon Tuesday September 10th at the Kings Palace by one of his High Chiefs, Rita Lori Ogbebor, who read from a statement that was issued by 22 Palace Chiefs.
