Globacom Nigerian Limited has charged the Super Eagles to believe
in themselves and go for outright victory today against Uruguay when
they clash in the crucial second Group B match at the on-going FIFA
Confederations Cup in Salvador, Brazil.
Super Eagles defeated Tahiti 6–1 in their first match on Monday and are leading the group on three points just like Spain, but with superior goal advantage. If they beat Uruguay today, they will advance to the semi-finals of the competition.
“It is important to go for victory in this encounter for them to qualification for the semi-finals ahead of their last group match against world and European champions, Spain,’’ Globacom said in a statement in Lagos yesterday.
The company stated that Nigeria could not afford to take her leg off the pedal at this stage of the competition. “We are optimistic the team will do well against Uruguay,” the statement added. Uruguay and Tahiti that have not got any points from their matches so far, are third and fourth on the table respectively.
Globacom is the official telecommunications partner of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the major sponsor of Nigerian national teams.
